UNICEF Thought Leadership Internship 2026 – USA (In-person | Remote)
UNICEF has announced applications for its Thought Leadership Internship 2026 at the Global Programme Division, Director's Office, New York HQ. This is a full-time paid internship opportunity for talented students enrolled in a university degree or recently graduated in fields related to business, economics, social sciences, political science, or international development. The internship lasts 3 months with an expected start date in June 2026, offering both in-person and remote participation options.
— Must be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
— Must be enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program OR graduated within the last two years.
— Academic background in Economics, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Communication, International Development, or related fields.
— Must demonstrate excellent academic achievement and motivation.
— Proficiency in English language is required.
— Knowledge of any other UNICEF official language is an asset.
— Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools required.
Required Competencies:
— Excellent communication skills
— Strong project management and organization skills
— Ability to work independently in a multicultural environment
— Experience in research, strategy, and consulting is a plus

📚 Intern Roles & Responsibilities
Programme Thought Leadership:
— Assist with staff working papers, formatting publications, and developing analytical platforms
— Assist with journals and field notes
— Organize staff book clubs and learning sessions
Strategic Engagement & Communications:
— Assist with director's external engagement by managing LinkedIn
— Manage communication between internal staff and external partners
— Outreach via communication channels such as Instagram or WhatsApp
