CSIR – Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), located at Acharya Vihar, Bhubaneswar, is a premier research laboratory under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Government of India. Marking its Diamond Jubilee, CSIR-IMMT has established itself as a leading institution engaged in research and development related to minerals, materials, metallurgy, and related fields. The institute regularly undertakes multi-disciplinary sponsored and mission-mode research projects, offering opportunities for young researchers and technical professionals to contribute to cutting-edge scientific work in mineral processing, metallurgy, materials science, and allied engineering domains.

Why You Should Apply

This recruitment drive offers candidates from diverse academic backgrounds — Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Geology, Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering, and Materials Science — a chance to work on a nationally significant CSIR project focused on sustainable extractive metallurgy and valorization of secondary resources. With monthly emoluments ranging up to Rs. 42,000 plus HRA, exposure to advanced research techniques (AI/ML, IoT, electrochemistry, pyrometallurgy, and materials characterization), and the opportunity to build a strong research profile at a reputed CSIR laboratory, this is an attractive opportunity for both fresh graduates and experienced research professionals.

About the Post

The recruitment covers 11 posts (Post Codes 8501 to 8511) under a single CSIR Major Lab Project (MLP No. 002625) titled "Sustainable extractive metallurgy of minerals and valorization of secondary resources for value added materials and critical elements." Roles range from Project Assistant-II to Senior Project Associate, with responsibilities spanning environmental monitoring, software/web development, synthesis of 2D materials, LA-ICP-MS operation, pyrometallurgy R&D, e-waste recycling plant operation with AI/ML-based automation, characterization of ores and minerals, polymer/organic synthesis, electrochemistry and cell designing, and AI/ML technique development using Python and MATLAB. All positions are purely temporary, sponsored by CSIR, and co-terminus with the duration of the project (up to 31.03.2027, or a maximum cumulative engagement of 6 years across projects).
